Remember when your weed accessory was brand spanking new and you promised to always keep her fresh? Those days are long gone and your gear is dirtier than Hugh Hefner’s jokes. Let’s go through the easiest way to clean your bong. Here’s what you will need.

Equipment

  • Dirty Bong or Pipe ( Thanks )
  • Gloves
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Coarse Salt
  • Ziploc Bag
  • Q-tip or any cleaning instrument
  • Dish Soap
  • A Sink

Steps

clean your bong

Well not really its a pretty clean process, but your pipe might be filthy! Making some time in your schedule for this will make it a lot better to clean your bong. Gloves are recommended at this point.

1. Tear it Down

Dismantle your piece and get everything broken down. You’re going to pre-soak everything in hot, soapy water for 30 minutes preferably. The dish soap will break down the resin. You can shorten this time down if your bong isn’t very dirty.

2. Shake it Like a Polaroid Picture

Fill the ziploc bag with rubbing alcohol, making sure there’s enough to submerge your downstems, bowls, and pipes. For a very dirty pipe it’s recommended to let it sit in the alcohol for another 30 minutes.

Shake the bag enough that it won’t blow up in your face but still removes the resin. Once the rubbing alcohol looks brown you can remove the pieces and give them a rinse. Save the bag if you have a bong to clean, even though it’s dirty it hasn’t seen the last of it’s days!

3. Get in There

Use those Q-tips you got and really scrub away at whatever is left on the down stem, pipe, and bowl. They should be looking good as new once you’ve used some elbow grease.

4. The Main Attraction

All we’ve got left is our bong and we can go back to enjoying nice, big smoke clouds again. Take the rubbing alcohol from the ziploc bag and pour it into your bong. If it’s not enough you can get a bit of hot water.

Add a generous amount of coarse salt to the liquid mix, cover the piece, and shake. The coarse salt is abrasive and will remove all the gunk when mixed with the rubbing alcohol.

Make sure you rinse out your piece as you don’t want to be smoking from an alcohol filled bong.

Why That’s Good as New!

Why spend 10-15 bucks on cleaner from your head shop when you most likely have all the ingredients at home, or won’t cost you more than 5 dollars. It’s not hard to clean your bong and if you add it to your routine you’ll always be blowing big, clean clouds.

Happy toking!
